Spirit Design’s spin-off MO.Point wins the VCÖ Mobility Award
VCÖ director Willi Nowak is impressed by the range of transportation forms on offer:
“The opportunity to choose between an electric car, an electric bike or an electric delivery bike outside your own door on a daily basis is a new kind of forward-looking comfort. In this way, depending on the necessity, everyday trips can be made in a simple, comfortable and eco-friendly manner.”
The prize is awarded to MO.Point GmbH for the Perfektastraße project. In June 2016, the first Mobility Point was put up in the housing complex built by the Austrian Siedlungswerk (ÖSW) at Perfektastraße 58 in the 23rd district of Vienna. There, the residents and the neighbours can rent environmentally friendly vehicles such as electric cars, electric bikes or electric delivery bikes. The vehicles are easily accessible, available around the clock and located directly in the housing complex.
The residents are not the only ones who profit from this easily available car and bike sharing service right outside their doors. MO.Point offers advantages for property developers as well: their buildings gain a special added value, and additionally, the alternative mobility concept reduces the amount of parking spaces required and as a result cuts the construction costs of the building. In towns and cities, this kind of needs-based mobility increases the quality of life. Sharing vehicles instead of owning them is in line with current trends.
