We’ve won!

Austrian State Prize for Design

We were given the Austrian State Prize for Design 2013 in the category Product Design/ Industrial Design Capital Goods for the new official-use boat of the Supreme Shipping Authority. The prize, which is awarded every second year by the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth, was bestowed at a gala award ceremony held at the Vienna Architecture Center on September 24, 2013. Our partners, Reinhard Vorderwinkler, Head of the Supreme Shipping Authority, and Reinhard Suppan, Managing Director of the shipyard ÖSWAG Werft Linz AG, are just as proud as we are, and share our pleasure in jointly receiving this prize.

The prominent jury of independent experts honored three out of a total of 166 entries with state prizes. The jury led by Prof. Fritz Frenkler of the University of Technology, Munich justified its decision as follows: “The ship operated by the river supervisory authority assumes the function of regulating maritime traffic and emergency management, and represents a completely new class of naval vessel comprising a mixture of a speedboat, working boat and transport vessel featuring a clear, functional design”.

The award-winning work of Spirit Design can be viewed at the exhibition accompanying the Austrian State Prize 2103 from September 25 – November 10, 2013 at the design forum Vienna located in the MuseumsQuartier.
