What has long become an integral part of many prominent sports is now finding its way into the sport of sailing – namely a separate league competition for the country’s sailing clubs. The Lago26, a regatta yacht we designed for world sailing champion Hans Spitzauer will also be taking part.

Up until there has been no nationwide club competition with a high level of importance in Austrian sailing. This is now going to change. The initiative will open up the sport to a broader public and promote enhanced public perception. The new competitive format is oriented to popular sports and unifies the enormous future potential of the entire sailing elite, whether Olympic participants, amateurs, recreational athletes, young or old, female or male.

In the first season of the Austrian Sailing League, there will be two events in different areas. The premiere will take place from July 10-12, 2015 at Lake Traunsee, and the second competition will be held at Lake Neusiedl from August 21-23, 2015, where our Lago26 will be involved. In 5 Lago26 regatta yachts, teams will sail against each other in three short races in each round of the competition.

We look forward to this new initiative in the sport of sailing with a strong public appeal and wish the participating clubs every success!

Here you can read the article in the magazine “Yachtrevue“ containing all details on the competition >
